The manufacturing of Vagabond’s kayak originally took place in Parys, a town in the Free State province of South Africa. This small town suffered crippling – and ongoing – power-supply issues after COVD lockdown in 2020. As a result, the factory that did our manufacturing made the call to relocate to George, a small city in the Western Cape province. We decided to move with the factory, arriving at our new home in November 2020. This move to the Garden Route has been an excellent relocation.
Production disruptions in mid-2022 will see the manufacturing of our kayaks move again in early 2023. We’ve been through many challenges and look forward to have the manufacturing of our kayaks settled for a number of years to come.
